Time to Play #8TerribleTitles

Just when I thought Friday couldn’t get any more fun, my fellow Sweet Sixteen debut author Melissa Gorzelanczyk tagged me in a rousing game of #8TerribleTitles!

So how do you play? EASY. Blindly scroll through your manuscript. Because peeking = cheating and do you really want to disappoint your parents that way??? Now as you scroll, let your cursor fall wherever it may. Select the phrase it lands on and–BAM! You’ve got yourself one terrifically terrible title! Repeat this 7 more times. And let the good times roll. 🙂

Here are the fabulously fugly titles from my debut book, SUMMER OF SUPERNOVA:

1. Lines of Orangey Brown (um, gross.)

2. Just Graduated

3. Sheer Crime of Chronology (yes…Yes…YES)

4. He Ponders (this book is going to win awards for its profundity.)

5. A Hard Whack (Oh. Dear. God.)

6. Quit Overanalyzing (sound advice)

7. Hotter Than Mercury

8. Usually Epic (this book is pretty sure of itself)

Next in the #8TerribleTitles lineup, I’m tagging Meg Kassel!

Thanks for playing. 🙂

  1. I would camp out overnight to be the first to buy HOTTER THAN MERCURY! (It’s about a guy, right?”

This is a game I’ve not seen before, but what fun. I just did it once, and the title of my WIP is now, GET HER OUT OF THIS BAR.

That was was so perfect, I didn’t bother with seven more. My favorite of yours is #5, A HARD WHACK. LOL, there’s so many directions you could take that. 🙂

  3. Darcy says:

I know! Isn’t it the coolest blog hop game in the history of evers? Hahaha! GET HER OUT OF THIS BAR sounds like a winner to me too! 😉

Thanks for joining me on this Friday Funday, Sandy!

  4. Bonnie says:

Thanks for pointing me toward this post, Darcy! I needed the giggle fit. HE PONDERS is perfect for those gals who like brainy men. And GET HER OUT OF THE BAR sounds like a bestseller. I tried it and got NONE-TOO-NATURAL BLONDE. Perfect Nano inspiration, right there!

  5. Holly Bodger says:

Well, at least with #5, you might get your book into one of those stores with a curtained-off back room. #snort #ew

    • Darcy says:

And if landing a book there was an aspiration, I’d be freaking golden with that title, Holly! But…I think I’ll stick with YA. I was never a fan of curtains anyway. 😉

  6. I love when I wake up on a Saturday morning to a treat like this! Love your game and your titles, Dacry!

    • Darcy says:

Thanks, Jacqui! Although I can’t take credit for the game, I had a ball playing! And then cringing when I opened my eyes to see my new title. 😉

Glad your Saturday started with a smile. As it should!
